as a bronocos fanm - not so sure.

if kannel has to play - and it sounds like he will - i'm not so sure i'd want denver. you know the ravens will stack the line and try and take away portis and make kannel beat them - and i'm not sure he can.

i will be watching this game - with no money on it. ravens looked past the bungals sunday to this game and looking at series history it is very one sided - in the ravens' favor.

I heard its third stringer Danny Kannel (*spell)

I am not so sure, Baltimore is very tough at home....And with 3rd stringer how can anyone like Denver???

Ravens win this game...

J-Man - Agreed! With the Broncos being down to a 3rd string RB they will be running the ball a bunch. I know this, you know this, and Baltimore knows this, therefor they should stack the line to stop it. This looks like a for sure UNDER. Both teams will be running the ball hoping their QB's don't screw it up and that the defense makes a couple of plays.

Winky,

I hate to be picky with a well respected poster like youself but I think your comment that The Ravens were looking past The Bungles game is a bit weak. Besides being a divisional game, playing Marvin Lewis would have been enough motivation. The truth is, The Ravens defense isnt good enough to continually bail out their poor offense.

I agree with the rest of your comments and I think the key is wether Denver can stop Lewis. As a Denver fan, you would have a better idea than me on this, what do you think?

KMAN,
While you a probably right in what the teams will do, I have found in the past that when you have 2 dodgy QBs the defenses score lots of points. I am not saying this will happen but its something to be wary of.

winbet - Good call on the defenses scoring. I didn't think about that.

Thanks,

i think BOTH teams are gonna go at it the same way. BOTH teams have qbs that will never make people forget john elway or johnny unitas (i know johhny u played for the baltimore colts - just using it as a baltimore example).

both teams have solid run defenses - meaning portis and jamal won't (or shouldn't be able to run much).

only philly has a worse passing offense than the ravens (by less than 1 yard) and denver is about 70 yards better - but that was with plummer and beuerlein - not kannel. yes - danny did well vs. minny - but that was because the vikes never knew he was gonna play. they didn't have time to prepare for him. give the ravens a week to watch film on danny - and they will be ready for whatever he wants to do.

i don't think either team will have much success running the ball and then you have to ask who will have more success passing it. i hope it is denver because that means they would win - but i have no clue. right now - leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeean to the ravens - but that is just an early lean.

i will say the last 2 weeks in the office pool i took pitt and minny ATS vs. denver - so i am not afraid to pick vs. my team (in a pool - never with "real money")

i will add i do agree the bungals got fired up for this one because of marvin lewis - and that also leads to the possibility of a letdown this week hosting seattle.

Looks like a game to stay away from then Winky. I always take on board what people say about their own team. As i said, I wouldnt know if Denver could stop the run without digging through stats and a fan has a better perspective on how those figures were acheived, thanks.

As for The Bungles letting down, they are playing pretty solid football but their Offensive play calling has cost them games this year. Seattle were not very impressive this week by all accounts so they may not be the team it makes out to be.

The Broncos are better so taking them on the moneyline should be a winning long term proposition

QB Danny Kanell has not won on the road since Week 4 of the 1998 season when he was playing for the New York Giants.

How many games does that trend encompass?? It looks like he has only started 8 times since that game, with likely 4 of those being road games.

steeser,

Just pointing out it's been a long time since Kanell has won a road game. Obviously he has not played much the past few years, with just two starts since the 1999 season, both losses with the Falcons.

Big Lou,

I understand, I just thought that is was an overdramatic way to say that he had lost his last X road games. But those weren't with a supporting cast like the group he has now.

That being said, I wouldn't touch the game with a 10 foot pole, because I don't know if the Denver team that wins in spite of Kanell or loses because of him is going to show up.

jamal lewis and kyle boller are both nursing very sore shoulders......boller`s is non-throwing...but that`s a moot point....probably better for denver that boller plays rather than redman....

but jamal lewis` shoulder is a serious problem.......he`ll play, but not at 100%....and he runs very physically(i`m sure everyone`s aware)...

as far as the bengals are concerned, they spanked my ravens pretty severely sunday...no fluke...kitna was sharp.....we stopped dillon, but kitna, johnson, warrick and tight end schobel tore us up.....the defense was very aggressive and blitzed us unmercifully....

they had their share of breaks, but, they played very well....most of our yards and points were accrued during garbage time....

i hit the bengals this week at +3(bought half) when it first came out.....marvin lewis has this team goosed.....if seattle plays another lethrgic game, they`ll get their ass handed to `em....and maybe, even if they play well...

the bengals, now with dillon back and healthy, are gonna surprise alot of people....

a very live,home dog....

sphincter..usually on same side as you and i have been riding this cincy team.seattle does mail in some soft wins,no doubt. but they are an 8th rated pass defense and that is all cincy can do.i also like the turnover ratio in their favor..i believe +10 seattle vs. -1 for cincy and the fact that seattle is a lot more balanced on offence provided they do come to play.

cincy is a much better team and buying into marvin lewis system but last week was a huge emotional win for them and that almost always drains a team as they head into next week esp. vs. a tough opponent who got a scare and ,i believe, a wake-up call last week.

i gotta lean with the hawks to win..maybe only eke one out but....

The Broncos are a average team at best.A sound Fake Plummer will never do anything. The defense is ok.Recievers are down this year. The backup qb's here are pathetic! There use to be a qb that Denver drafted that is just as good as their backups today-----that guy be no-talent Tommy Maddox or is it Maddox Tommy. You make the call.

The last time the Horses showed up in Maryland, the Horses were -3 points and got the clocks cleaned as the Ravens went on to bigger and better things.

The home team and UNDER are the way to collect this sunday..

xfl....appreciate the info...but as i said,i watched the bengals last week....the first week with dillon in a while...and when looking at this week`s game,i had to look at seattle`s schedule....

4 wins at home....some very close games(even against the bears)....2 road games...a win vs the horrible cardinals....and a blow out loss to green bay....a very favorable schedule....they actually should have lost to the rams but a defensive holding penalty kept a drive alive with a 3rd and long with 1:45 left...the rams controlled much of the game...

this, imo,is not a strong 5-1 club....4 home games....some very close games...one thing i`ll say, good teams get the breaks...witness the chiefs...maybe the seahawks are very good...

i`m not convinced yet...i see progression so far in cincy`s games....ai see a bit of regression in seattle`s performances...

to be fair, there is a strong trend regarding cincy`s not winning back to back home games in quite awhile...but,i think that`s a tad illegitimate since marvin lewis` arrival seems to have changed the dynamic for this team...

i`m not a bengal fan...far from it...but i like them here....i could be wrong...have been many times before
icon_biggrin.gif
....

you are not alone...i appear to be in the minority...i see several consensus sites showing seattle at around 70%....

again, appreciate the info...maybe it lands on 2 and we both walk away smiling...

g.l. with the other plays...

After learning Kanell would be starting this week I am staying far away from this game. If anything, I would go with the home team here. GL to all!
